Three rules we live by

  • Don’t complain

  • Show up early

  • Do your best

Rule  #1 – Don’t complain.  Complaining is what people do when they’re too scared or lazy to do anything about what’s bothering them.  The world’s full of unhappy people who complain about their life instead of working to make the changes they need to be happy.  Some circle their wagons to recruit other complainers so they can be miserable together.  Others take the passive aggressive route, making snide comments rather than step up and do the work to fix the problem.  Others run and hide, complaining under their breath.  Most of us have done one or all of these at some point.

If you feel like complaining, stop and make a decision to do something about the issue.  If you think something needs to change, do one of the following:

  • Step up and try to change it

  • If you can’t change it, talk to someone that might be able to

  • If you try those and nothing changes in a reasonable amount of time and you can’t deal with it, you may want to consider another environment.  Be happy.  You deserve it.

Rule  #2 - Show up Early.  Prepare for the day and get your head in the game.  Don’t walk in at the last minute.  We charge too much for anything but a professional attitude toward work. Customers and co-workers deserve you at your best.  Starting work in a flustered panic can affect your entire day.  Your clients should not arrive before you do.

Rule  #3 - Do Your Best.  Don’t put in a half-assed effort.  You’ll regret it.  Maybe not today or even this year, but eventually you’re going to regret it.  Whether it’s learning to become a better stylist, a better person or just treating people better, there will come a time when you look back on what you’ve done and who you are; and you’re not going to want to see a half-assed effort.  It’s going to hurt.
