Client Distribution & Consultations

Our front desk staff considers the following when distributing non-request clients:

  • Which stylists want new clients based on their actions and work habits. If a stylist is unwilling to stay a little late or show up a little early to get a new client, or consistently turns down new clients to fit with their personal schedule, the salon will take this as a sign of low desire to get new clients and assign clients elsewhere.

  • Which stylist is most likely to retain the client

  • Client’s desired price point and experience level

  • Stylist’s preferred specialty or type of color/cut/extensions

  • Keeping stylists equally busy to the extent possible

  • Which stylist is the best personality fit

Color and Cut Together

Cutters have requested on multiple occasions that clients only be booked for a cut and not color and cut together. This is particularly true of dry cuts and curly cuts. If it’s convenient for the client, cut and color can be separate appointments. If the client wants both together, we will schedule both together. Stylists don’t get to dictate which services a client can schedule with other stylists.

Consultations

Our new client service timings include consultation time sufficient for most services. That said, complex lengthy color projects, extensions, and some client’s cuts can require more time and may require a stand alone consultation separate from the service. There are two lengths of stand alone consultations

  • 30 minute consultation - These are free. Book this consultation when you feel the standard built-in consultation time for appointment is not sufficient.

  • 1 hour pre-paid consultation - These are priced at $100 regardless of the stylist’s hourly rate/prices. The $100 fee is applied toward the client’s service when the service is performed. If the client does not schedule the service following the consultation, the salon keeps the consultation fee and a regular commission is paid to the stylist.

  • The fee for 1 hour consultations with Kris for Specialty Color are NOT applied toward the service.‍ ‍
